Image Forgery Localization via Block-Grained Analysis of JPEG Artifacts
IEEE
The paper “Image Forgery Localization via Block-Grained Analysis of JPEG Artifacts ” proposes a forensic algorithm to discriminate between original and forged regions in JPEG images, under the hypothesis that the tampered image presents a double JPEG compression, either aligned or non-aligned. Co-written by T. Bianchi and A. Piva, it was published online on February 2012 for the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics & Security, April 2012

This article, co-written by A. De Rosa, F. Uccheddu, A. Costanzo, A. Piva and M. Barni, proposes a system for the detection of the dependencies between a set of images sharing similar or identical contents. Given the pronounced effect that images posted on the Web have on opinions and bias in the networked age we live in, such an analysis could be extremely useful for understanding the role of pictures in the opinion forming process.
